SQL Developer
We are seeking a SQL Developer to support database development and administration for a federal mission-critical environment.
Clearance: This position supports a federal contract and requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) status, as well as the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and support database-centric application systems, providing computer engineering and systems analysis expertise for modern relational database platforms.
· Engineer, optimize, and maintain complex SQL-driven workflows supporting mission-critical administrative and engineering services systems, including performance tuning of large and complex queries.
· Configure, manage, and troubleshoot database engines and clustered database environments, applying relational database best practices to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
· Analyze system requirements and plan database and infrastructure resource needs based on high-level functional and technical specifications.
· Diagnose and resolve database and application performance issues, leveraging profiling, monitoring, and server resource optimization tools.
· Support enterprise-grade application systems, contributing to solutions involving enterprise architecture, secure application design, cloud-hosted environments, user interfaces (including mobile), and data-driven capabilities as applicable.
· Collaborate using modern version control and development practices, maintaining source code in Git-based repositories and working effectively both independently and under general technical direction.
Qualifications and Special Knowledge Requirements
· Master’s degree and eleven (11) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree and thirteen (13) years of relevant experience.
· Engineering, math, or science degree required.
Abilities
· Strong proficiency with SQL across popular database platforms.
· Experience working with modern relational databases.
· Ability to optimize large and complex SQL statements.
· Knowledge of relational database best practices.
· Ability to configure database engines and orchestrate clusters.
· Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
· Ability to troubleshoot common database issues.
· Familiarity with tools for profiling and optimizing server resource usage.
· Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
· Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work independently or under general direction.
