About the Role

At Expedition Technology (EXP), we work on real-world problems whose solutions will make an immediate impact on national security. If you desire an opportunity where you will apply your deep learning engineering expertise to challenging problems with no previously known solutions, EXP is the place to be! We are seeking a Senior Level Engineer who will work with state-of-the-art large multi-modal models as applied to image and language processing. As part of our team, you'll use your knowledge of foundation models to customize and finetune downstream models that solve specific tasks. In particular, we seek novel techniques to assess model robustness and counter-AI vulnerabilities of foundation models. You'll have the opportunity to dive into models with complex architectures and use your coding expertise to modify them to our use cases. You'll have the freedom to scour current research to stay abreast of advances in Large Language Models (LLMs), Large Vision Models (LVMs), Large Vision Language Models (LVLMs), as well as other foundation models and apply that knowledge to address Intelligence Community (IC) challenges. If you're energized to work in a "hands on keyboard" role alongside a dynamic team that is delivering novel solutions to the US DOD and Intel Communities in the areas of applied AI/DL, we'd like to talk with you. Here's what you'll need to succeed: Requirements: • United States Citizenship - All candidates MUST be US Citizens and eligible for a US-government issued security clearance of Top Secret or higher • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field • Eight (8) plus years of hands-on engineering experience in Deep Learning with a focus on developing computer vision applications and natural language processing (NLP) Skills and Experience: • Proven proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other modern machine learning framework • Solid theoretical understanding of deep neural networks as well as their applications, particularly in computer vision, object detection, and NLP • Experience with foundation models like CLIP, BLIP-2, Mini GPT-4, or Open Flamingo • Experience with training and evaluating different ViT type architectures • Proven experience architecting, training, testing, and deploying machine learning solutions within an AWS environment • Strong software development skills to include object-oriented design and implementation in languages like Python • Strong technical presentation and writing skills • Experience using collaborative source code management tools (Git) • Experience with software testing (unit, integration, functional, etc.) • Exposure to software containerization with Docker, Linux, and cloud development • Exposure with the full software development lifecycle, CI/CD, agile/scrum methodologies Preferred Qualifications: • Active Secret US Government security clearance (must be eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI) • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented culture and make an impact on innovation Clearance Required: Secret
